Youth Release For Proposals (RFP) Frequently Asked Questions 

Q: Will "in-school" youth be required to be TABE tested?
A: No.

Q: Will 5% of the total youth certified for the Bluegrass Area not have to meet Income criteria?
A: Yes.

Q: Is followup required for 1 year?
A: Yes.

Q: What happens if school systems are not on a 9 week grading period?
A: Total incentive allowed is $ 700.00, which will be divided by the number of grading periods.

Q: If a youth earns their GED after exiting the program is this countable?
A: Yes.

Q: Are foster children countable?
A: Yes.

Q: Does the RFP apply for both "in-school" and "out-of-school" youth?
A: Yes, however "out-of-school" programs are preferred.

Q: Can a youth receive services from 2 different agencies?
A: Yes, but the agencies cannot provide the same services.

Q: Is there a preference between "in-school" and "out-of-school" grants?
A: The majority of grants will be awarded to "out-of-school" grants.

Q: Will donated space or facilities count as a related contribution?
A: Yes

Q: Can the partnered associations hire an assistant with their funding?
A: Yes, if their budget allows.

Q: Will the partnered programs be responsible for developing their own curriculum?
A: Yes. 

Q: What is the deadline for for questions about this program?
A: May 5, 2008. AP

Q: What about a youth who may require English as a Second Language (ESL) Training? 
A: You will need to partner with adult education (available in  the Central Kentucky Career Centers) or an organization in your respective communities that offers ESL classes.

Q: How many hours does a youth have to work per week  to qualify for this program?
A: 15 Hours verifiable employment, unless child labor laws apply.
