    Woodford County Public Schools is opening a wrap-around childcare program for our preschool program and full-time childcare for preschool age children (3-5 yrs old). The target date for opening is August 10, 2026.

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Preferred: early childhood experience, CDA, child development training/education Required: High school diploma/equiveilant, pass a background check both state and nationally (fingerprinting), TB test, physical, first aid and CPR, 18 years of age Preferred degree: interdisciplinary early childhood education, early childhood special education, early childhood education , early childhood development, elementary education (P-5), child care assistant, child development services, individual and family studies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: 'Job Summary Lead childcare monitors are responsible for providing early childhood education to children up to approximately five years of age. If you have childcare skills and know safety and first aid techniques, you would be a valuable addition to our team of dedicated lead teachers. We need someone like you, who enjoys working in an environment where quickly adapting to changing conditions and rapidly assessing the needs of young students are important and necessary skills. Teaching in an early childhood environment is great for people who love being around children and who have a passion for early childhood education. Job Responsibilities Prepare lessons that meet educational requirements in an age-appropriate manner, and teach in a manner that meets the needs for the ages and abilities of all participating students. Manage a busy classroom environment and provide the structure and discipline required for successful learning for everyone in the classroom. Help children meet educational milestones through personalized instruction and other supplementary assistance. • Collaborate with other teachers, instructors, and staff members to create an optimal learning and care environment. Provide helpful feedback to parents and guardians on a regular or as-needed basis. Work with diverse populations of children and adults from a wide variety of cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds. Prepare lesson plans for students according to the age, developmental maturity, and needs of the children being taught, while including fundamental vocabulary, simple shapes, basic colors, letters, and numbers into the curriculum. Address basic interpersonal skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and asking permission in the classroom. The assistant monitor will work alongside the lead teacher to implement a variety of daily activities which include observing, supervising and educating children, organizational duties, and optimizing the learning and play environment while also meeting the child care health and safety standards. Job Responsibilities for the Classroom: Assist the lead monitor with curriculum development (lesson plan) that is age appropriate for the children in the classroom Assist the lead teacher in implementing activities on the lesson plan and following the daily schedule Assist the lead monitor in observing and assessing children’s behavior and progress Assist and engage with the children throughout the day Follow and implement health, safety and sanitation procedures throughout the day Maintain regulatory compliance Full-time, 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 260-day contract PAY/BENEFITS: Refer to the Woodford County Public Schools pay schedule; health insurance available, sick days, personal days, emergency days; vacation; retirement
